Start with the film, then choose the tools
A production brief should explain the story, audience and intended visual result before it names a model or tool. AI can be part of that process, but a generated image is still a creative proposal. The director and production team decide whether it belongs in the film.
Separate exploration from delivery. Early visual development can test different looks and compositions. A production shot needs closer review against the approved characters, environment, action and surrounding edit. Agree what must remain consistent before generating alternatives.
Plan continuity across shots
Keep a shared reference for character appearance, costume, props, locations and lighting. Review each shot in sequence, not only as an isolated frame. A convincing individual image may still conflict with the visual language or action of the next shot.
Define who can approve a look and when a decision is considered locked. Changes to an approved character or environment can affect later work. A clear review process helps the team identify that dependency before committing to more shots.
Keep post-production in the plan
Discuss the edit and delivery requirements at the beginning. Frame size, aspect ratio, shot duration and source quality affect how material can be used. Review movement and detail at the intended viewing size, then evaluate the sequence with its sound and surrounding shots.
AI-led production does not remove the need for creative judgment or finishing. The scope of additional work depends on the actual shots. Agree which tasks the studio will handle and what needs to be handed to other collaborators.
Evaluate a workflow with a representative shot
Choose a test that reflects the difficult parts of the project, such as character continuity, specific action or an exact environment. Judge it against the brief and delivery requirements. Do not assume that one successful image proves that an entire sequence will work without further development.
